Crystal Inn- Rated among the top 10 best restaurants of the Hudson Valley, along with our popular Chicken and Wild Mushroom Risotto- a top 10 dish of the year
A Brief History:

Established in February 1965, the Crystal Inn has long been a favorite of locals for many years. A long-time Hudson Valley landmark, Crystal Inn is very well known throughout the region, a place where many generations have frequented.

Present owner Casmier “Gus” Zygmunt, started off managing and bartending in 1965. Although semi-retired, you may catch him making a pass-by in the restaurant, stopping at tables to meet and greet patrons. The late 70’s and early 80’s opened a new chapter for the Crystal, welcoming food to part of it’s offerings. Always well known for outstanding pizza, the Crystal Inn opted to offer on-premise dishes with an Italian Influence. Long-time chef Bob Kleveno started early on in his career here at the Crystal Inn serving great food at an affordable price. A dining room was established in the present bar and lounge area, where locals and visitors to the area could enjoy their meals.

Throughout the late 1980’s as bar business quieted down, Gus explored the restaurant sector a bit more deeply. With Orange County Route 1A being developed, Amity Road was soon to be a rural road, while it once was a major connecting road between Warwick, Pine Island, Glenwood and Vernon, New Jersey. By bringing in a new Chef, Jorge Torres, and renovating the existing building, the Crystal Inn expanded into a local area restaurant, as well as a comfortable bar and lounge, known as “Gussy’s Restaurant”. At this time, the menu expanded its offerings to include many Italian dishes such as Francaise and Marsala, Parmigianas, Steaks and Seafood dishes, as well as providing hero sandwiches and numerous salads. Top selling favorites continued to be Pizza and other Italian favorites.

Gus explored the quick-service sector by purchasing and opening the Harvest Luncheonette, as Jorge Torres moved to manage this undertaking. Chef Miguel Chinas became involved with the Crystal Inn, as well as General Manager Ryan Zygmunt, taking the menu offering a bit further, with first time appearances of Filet Mignon, and more Continental varieties and twists on basic ingredients. At this time, Crystal Inn again pioneered as one of the first area restaurants to offer an “Atkins Friendly” menu page after the low-carb diet craze swept the nation.

In September 2004, considering a more upscale venture into the restaurant, Gus brought in renown chef James Haurey, of the five-star, five-diamond rated “Dining Room” of the Hilton in Short Hills, NJ as executive chef. Incorporating a modern outlook on Contemporary American cuisine, major menu redesign took place. Appearing at the 2004 “Taste of Warwick”, a larger amount of patrons were made aware of the Crystal Inn’s new offerings. After being critically acclaimed with 4 stars from the Times Herald Record’s December 3, 2004 review, the Crystal Inn became a sought after dining destination.

With a great team of employees, a loyal customer base, excellent dining and a cozy setting, the Crystal Inn strives to provide an unforgettable dining experience. Whether it’s just a quick cocktail in our bar or lounge, a night out to watch the game, or a weekend dinner, be sure to stop in and see what we’re all about.
